Christian Leroy Duncan was taken down 5 times by a geriatric Jared Cannonier, so I totally get why people are people are picking Brendan Allen here and I probably do the same. But Duncan is 10x faster, 10x cleaner and 10x the striker that Allen is. I really wish the judging at UFC Vegas 121 didn’t go the way that it did because I want to sit here and tell you to fade the wrestler because no one cares. But they did care and we don’t know yet if that was a one off or not. But we do know that Brendan has a decent amount of 5 round experience and even though his striking won’t be anywhere near Duncan’s, Duncan’s wrestling will be a much wider gap. So Allen has to the pick here but this is a very interesting that sets someone up for a title conversation.

Brendan Allen

Brendan Allen is a BJJ black belt with solid low kicks, solid takedowns and solid striking overall. When Brendan is on, he looks fantastic. He has incredible cardio, nice striking and nice grappling. He is a better hammer than he is a nail, but he has a lot of high level experience and some dog in him. He is coming off his third win in a row, this time a striking match with Edmen Shabazyan

Christian Leroy Duncan is a high pressure fighter with 11 finishes in 15 wins. He is a powerful striker who comes forward with pressure, speed and creativity. He throws everything at his opponents but if things get heated on the way back he quickly turns into a wrestler. He’s wild, sometimes sloppy but incredibly dangerous on his feet and has solid ground and pound if he ends up on top. His takedown defense is pretty bad, but it didn’t prevent him from sneaking out a win against Jared Cannonier in Oklahoma City.
