This is a sloppy heavyweight fight. Neither one of these guys is very technical, neither one is very good. I can understand why the general public and the betting odds are leaning Harris and thats because Fry did nothing in his last fight and let Guilherme dot him up for 15 minutes. But what the hell did RJ Harris do in his last fight to have 97% of people picking him and he’s more tha a 2 to 1 favorite here? He beat up a former steroid user. Thats it. We’re acting like he went into that fight and looked good – The guy was swinging for the moon and landed. The problem is here is we know nothing about either one of these guys at this level. I’ll pick RJ Harris for the hell of it because I think he hits harder of the two and between their lats 2 fights, he wasn’t the won who was afraid to engage. Zero shot i bet him at -200+ though.
RJ Harris
RJ Harris is a big dude who swings like a big dude. No one will ever watch an RJ Harris fight and say “wow, what a clean combination he threw”. But they will watch his last fight and say “that big dude just knocked out that former steroid using clown shoe” and they’ll say that because RJ does have power in his hands and has finished a bunch of clown shoes including the former steroid using Alvin Hines in his last fight. RJ doesn’t have clean technique but he is big, strong and willing to bang. He has a handful of submission, but it’s mostly him leaning over and grabbing thing on the feet because he is so tall.
Allen Frye Jr.
Allen AJ Frye is a striker with decent power and a willingness to throw. He is pretty green in MMA but evolving relatively quickly. He is big, fast, strong and very athletic. He is faster and more agile than most heavyweights and does rely on that athletecism. He definitely has some defensive wrestling holes but he does a good job working up if he is taken down. On the feet he pumps a nice jab and throws power behind it. He is coming off the decision loss to Guilherme Pat where he did literally nothing.
