Curtis gained a lot of favor with the fans and showed the world how tough he can be in his last fight. We went to war for 15 full minutes and helped set a record for most significant strikes landed in a heavyweight fight. And that honestly matters here because i didn’t peg him as a dog like that but now we know he is and if he can make this fight look like that fight, he could have some success. I’m probably going to pick Waldo here though and thats off sheer athleticism. He’s fast, has good foot work, hits hard, scrambles well, does all the things you want a heavyweight to do. Waldo will be the pick, but I am surprised at what a huge favorite he is.
Waldo Cortes-Acosta
Waldo Cortes-Acosta is a fun athletic striker who is tough as nails with real power. He lands an impressive almost 6 significant strikes per minute and has showed us on numerous occasions how physically tough he is. We have seen him out strike and out grapple his opponents. He is not a fighter by trade but because of his athleticism, he adopted quickly. He is coming off the decision loss to Alexander Volkov where the range and volume gave him trouble.
Curtis Blaydes
Curtis Blaydes is a fantastic wrestler who averages more than 5 takedowns per fight. He has Fast and clean entries to double legs and when he touches the legs, he sprints. But as much as he is known as a wrestler, he has only gotten 4 takedowns in 3 years. His hands deserve credit as well with clean technique and heavyweight power. He is coming off the insane fight with Josh Hokit where he had 2 takedowns and 174 significant strikes
