People are going to look at this and instantly say Petersen sucks and then bet on Walker. And while that isn't the worst snap judgement in the world, Petersen is a little better than people think and does have that farm boy wrestling so there is a world where he gets sloppy takedowns and managed to keep his ankles. I am going to pick Valter here because neither one of these guys is a great striker but one of them is a great grappler, but before you start betting this dude at -240, remember how bad he looked in his UFC debut.

Valter Walker

Valter Walker is a Brazilian who wrestles like a Russian because he spent a giant portion of his career in Russia where he has been grinding on the wrestling mats. His striking is not very good and he gets hit a ton but he doesn't care, he's looking to lower his level and shoot takedowns. He has become the unofficial heel hook king of the UFC with an insane 4 wins and 4 heel hooks. The most recent was over Louie Sutherland where he ate a massive right hand before a takedown and immediate mount.

Thomas Petersen

Thomas Peterson is a solid wrestler who will work everything from bear hugs to doubles. His striking isn't great, but he will close the gap with straight punches while marching forward and then when he gets you against the cage, he will be busy in the clinch. If Petersen can't take his opponent down, he is trouble. But if he can, he has pretty good control and ground and pound. He is coming off the decision win over Guiliherme Pat where he actually went 0-5 in takedown attempts but won with control and a knockdown.
