I picked Umar in his fight vs Figgy. Not only did I pick Umar, I was 100% convinced it would be a decimation. But I think we can all agree that Figgy had a much better showing than we though he would. He defended 4 takedowns and had a handful of solid exchanges. But that fight is very different than this one. Of course Song can wrestle and may look to wrestle but he is also a very good striker. He has fast hands, real power and dog in him. I think this is a great stylistic matchup for him because Figgy won't be able to bully and won't have powerful enough striking to get Song to panic wrestle. I think Song controls almost every aspect of this fight but I do worry a bit about him fading later. Song is definitely the pick and I think it's safe to get as specific as Song by decision.
Yadong Song
Song Yadong is a technical striker who moves well. He's fast, he hits hard and he's athletic, but he can be hittable at almost 4 signifigant strikes absorbed per minute. He throws everything with power which can leave him open to takedowns, but he's very good at creating space and getting back to his feet. He does like to dictate the pace, but did show us that even when fighting a very good grappler he will let his hands go and trusts his defense. He is coming off the close loss to Sean O'malley where he had 3 takedowns.
Deiveson Figueiredo
Deiveison Figuerdo is the former flyweight champion of the world who moved up to Bantamweight later in his career. Since moving up to Bantamweight we have seen cardio improvements and a much higher focus on wrestling. He has 13 takedowns in his last 7 fights which is more than his previous 11 fights combined. He is a well rounded guy who is dangerous everywhere. He has power in his hands, well timed takedowns, a BJJ blackbelt and some dog in him, but at 38 years old he is starting to slow down. He is coming off the decision loss to Umar Nurmagomedov
