Crazy matchup. Not only do you have teammates fighting, you have the most boring fighter in the history of the UFC going up against one of the most exciting. I'm falling asleep just talking about Grant Dawson let alone have to watching his boring ass fight. This will be the same breakdown as every other Grant Dawson fight. He's not an MMA fighter, he's a wrestler. Which means he touch gloves then instantly shoot a takedown. If he gets them, he will win, if he doesn't then he will be KO'd. Thats literally the only 2 outcomes here. Rebecki can break Grant in half, or be stuck on his back the whole time. I actually think Dawson wins here, but I've never seen Rebecki accept a position, slow down or stop trying to find a finish which means he will be have all 15 minutes to find a finish. I can't bring my myself to say Grant wins because that means i'm rooting against one of the most exciting guys in the division and for the human embodiment of knitting a sweater.
Grant Dawson
Grant Dawson is a grappler who averages more than 5 takedowns per fight. He has a great ground game with absolutely relentless pressure. His striking is not very good, genuinely bad at times, so his clear advantage in almost all of his fights is his wrestling and grappling. His pressure and willingness to be a crotch sniffing wrestler has has afforded him quite a bit of success in the UFC but almost no fans. He is coming off the almost instant knockout loss to Manuel Torres.
Mateusz Rebecki
Matesz Rebecki is a fast starter who will throw giant 1-2 punches before he starts diving at legs. Even though he is a grappler, he will absolutely hang around for a striking match. Every single punch he throws is with intent and when he gets you to the ground he is looking for a finish. He can be a bit reckless leaving him open on the feet and giving his opponents space to work up on the ground. He has solid cardio considering his pace, but he can be a bit sloppy. He is coming off another war, this time a loss to Ludovit Klein where he was out techniqued but rallied in the 3rd after Ludovit broke his ankle.
