The way Pat Sabatini absolutely dog walked someone as scrappy as Chepe was crazy. Chepe was a high level wrestler who was pun on his back 7 times in that fight. I think we get more of the same here. I think Sabatini comes in, closes the gap, exploits the lack of volume and gets the takedowns. Pat definitely can be chinny at times with the KO losses to Diego Lopes and Damon Jackson, but luckily for him Gomis is a slow starter and not very powerful. I am surprisingly confident in Pat here despite me picking against him in his last couple of matchups.
Pat Sabatini
Pat Sabatini is a dangerous grappler with very good wrestling and solid pressure when on top. His grappling is incredible and he is always live for a submission. He has technical striking but he is stiff, hittable and chinny. He is averaging almost 5 takedowns per fight and 2 sig. strikes per minute. What that data tells you is that he is always looking to grapple and rarely looking to strike. He is coming off the decisive win over Chepe Marsical where he had 7 takedowns.
William Gomis
William Gomis is a pretty well rounded guy who can strike, grapple and outwork people. It's hard to label him as any one thing because he genuinely is good everywhere. He has solid Muay Thai striking and very opportunistic grappling where he will snatch things up in scrambles. The criticism on Gomis is that he can be low volume. He has 90 minutes of cage time and lands fewer than 4 significant strikes per minute. He is coming off the decision win over Robert Ruchala where he was technical and showcased an incredible chin, but was low volume and taken down.
