If you only looked at the stats you would think Kody was absolutely destroyed in that last fight and while it was a clear loss, it wasn't an insane beating. His strikes were almost tripled, he was knocked down, reversed and only went 1 for 4 in takedown attempts. But numbers can lie which is why it's important to do tape study when you can. If you didn't have a strike counter watching that fight, it felt like Kody was doing the damage and landing the more impactful shots. He was the one moving forward and he had an answer for everything that comes his way. I think Kody can definitely hang in striking with Dom and then sneak in a takedown or two when needed because Dom's defense isn't great. Kody s the pick, but I don't love the matchup or the -175 odds.
Kody Steele
Kody Steele s a good grappler with big takedowns, chain wrestling and relentless pressure. He does a great job creating scrambles and making stuff happen. His striking is solid as well with good power and volume, but he can be hittable. He is not afraid to get into a war and will maintain a pace. He is coming off the incredible fight with RhongZhu where he was rocked and hit with more strikes, but he did seemingly more damage along the way.
Dom Mar Fan
Dom Mar Fan is a kickboxer with a traditional kickboxing stance. He is light on his toes, bounces in and out of range and then enters the pocket to engage before leaving with leg kicks. He does a nice job alternating between boxing and kickboxing as well as leg and body shots up to the head. I would not classify him as a wrestler but he does have nice entries and clean takedowns. His takedown defense however is a bit lacking but when he is taken down, he never stops working. He is coming off the road to the UFC championship win.
