What interesting about Lucas Brennan making his UFC debut here is that his father Chris and Dana White have had more than one public spat back in the day, which included Dana posting on forums that Chris was a bitch for not accepting fights. Now I have no idea if they have made up or not since it's been 25 years since then, but I do know they aren't doing his kid any favors. Lucas is a solid fighter and I have no doubt that on the regional scene he has looked good and certainly has the skills to get wins at this level, but Francis Marshall is a giant leap forward. Frances is better than Lucas at everything Lucas does. He's the wretter striker, wrestler and grappler. So Francis has to be the pick and the only thing that could potentially get weird here is cario because of short notice, but I have never seen anything to make me doubt Francis' gas tank.
Francis Marshall
Francis Marshall is a heavy handed grappler who comes forward with power and speed to setup his traditional takedowns and jiu jitsu. He is comfortable striking but almost too comfortable, he will keep his hands low and throw out long jabs and hooks. When he shoots they are well timed and full of energy. He is young in his career and is hit more than he should be, but he does a nice job baiting you into a striking match before shooting blast doubles. He is coming off the submission win over Erik Silva where he needed fewer than 3 minutes to get a takedown and lock up a rear naked choke
Lucas Brennan
Lucas Brennan is another legacy fighter, his father is Chris Brennan who fought in the UFC many years ago. He is actually a local kid to me as well and based right here in Frisco Texas. Style wise he is a long grappler who will shoot proper takedowns. He does a nice job staying mobible on his feet and then lowering his level to shoot when his opponents come in. On the ground he is immediately looking to pass into dominant positions and hunt for submissions. His striking is decent, he doesn't have a ton of power but he does throw knees when he leaves exchanges and likes to manage range
