On one hand I feel bad for Gilbert here as he is about to lose his 5th fight in a row and I have to assume will be cut, on the other hand he is 40 years old, doing what he loves and making money. It's also easy to clown 4 consecutive losses, but 2 of them were to world champions and the other 2 were to top 5 guys. Gilbert is not going to win this fight though. I see zero path to victory here and the fact that Mike Malott isn't a 100 to 1 favorite right now just tells me people haven't placed their bets yet. Anyone pretending Gilbert has a chance is citing hs skills from 5 years ago. Today's version is not as good of a wrestler, not as good of a grappler, not as good of a striker and still very undersized. Mike wins and likely by finish.
Gilbert Burns
Gilbert Burns is a grappler who has developed striking over time. He has impressive power and is willing to throw down. He is undersized for the division but for his age, he is fast, powerful and tough enough to hang. But he is old and clearly feed to the lions. His last feed was a KO loss to Michael Morales.
Mike Malott
Mike Malott is a pretty well rounded guy. He has a very lose striking style which allows him to box and kickbox comfortably. He is technically sound and manages range well. He doesn't have any specific background so you can expect him to strike as well as grapple and wrestle. He has 8 fights under the UFC banner with 3 knockdowns, 2 KOs and 3 submissions wins. He is coming off the competitive win over Kevin Holland
