Mark Vologdin is famous for being in one half of what a lot of people call the greatest fight of all time. But detractors would say it was sloppy and low level. Regardless of what side of that argument you are on, you can agree the pace, output and toughness shown was incredible. All of those skills will be needed here as well because even though he is on a bit of a skid, Castaneda is a very good fighter who sets his own pace and has wrestling. The takedowns are what i think lost Vologdin his last fight and Castaneda does really well working in takedowns. Castaneda lost his last fight because he struggled with range, but that shouldn't be an issue here because Mark doesn't have any range, he is a short king who relies on speed. I am going to lean Castaneda here and I hate that. I am worried that he is past his prime and starting to slow down, but I need to look at the skils and the style matchup and doing that brings me to the wrestler who can match the pace.
John Castaneda
John “Sexy Mexi” Castenda is a really fun come forward fighter. He's very well rounded and sets an incredible pace. He's a former D2 wrestler who loves coming forward with fast hands and then shooting takedowns when he has the opening. He does not have a ton of power but he makes up for that with forward pressure and a wide variety of strikes. He is coming off the decision loss to Chris Gutierrez where he had a few takedowns but struggled with range.
Mark Vologdin
Mark Vologdin is known for being in one of the most fun fights of all time or at least certinaly the best Contender Series fight of all time. Style wise he is a fast busy striker who makes up for any range issues with pressure and creativity. He is an ity bity little man, but lightening fast and willing to take chances. He has plenty of spinning techniques and the occasional takedown. His takedown defense is a bit lacking and that is why he lost on the Contender Series despite having a solid showing overall.
