Jamie Siraj vs. John Yannis Pick, Prediction and Bets

siraj vs yannis

When doing tape study to make the pick here, the literally only thing i was looking for was can Jamie wrestle, if the answer is yes, then he's the pick. Pretty straight forward. Yannis absolutely sucks on the ground and defending takedowns. The answer is, yes he has wrestling, but unfortunately it wasn't as dominant as i was hoping. He's closer to a BJJ guy than a wrestler, but that combined with his striking should be enough to get the win here. It's clear this was put together to get a Canadian on the card and hopefully a Canadian win. Siraj is the pick, but this fight is brand new so no odds yet.

Jamie Siraj

Jamie Siraj is pretty well rounded guy and a staple on the Canadian regional scene. He has decent striking with some hidden power, ok takedowns and solid BJJ. He is very tough and scrambles well. His takedowns aren't great but he is very opportunistic with his grappling and will snatch things in scrambles. His power is deceiving because he isn't bombing from his hips, but does land clean and manage range. The real question mark is how good he actually is because hs only loss in the last 10 years was Deigo Brandao but none of his wins are any good. So he essentially lost to the only good fighter he has fought.

John Yannis

John Yannis is a powerful striker who despite being very vocal about working on his takedown defense, was taken down instantly in his UFC debut. He does a nice job staying mobile and having clean boxing. He is a southpaw which can throw people off and he sends a beautiful inside leg kick from the back leg. He has clean technique and solid power, but is closer to one dimensional than he is well rounded. He is coming off the first round submission loss to Austin Bashi in his debut which actually got him cut from the UFC but they resigned him for this spot.
