This is Cub Swanson's retirement fight and honestly, one of the more favorable matchups available to him. Frankly, this should be both their retirement fights, but planned. Not like that insanely awkward situation at UFC Seattle where Chiesa got a heroes goodbye and Niko kinda slumped out. I'm saying this should be it for Nate because without his chin, his fight style just cannot work for him. He can't possibly absorb the damage he needs to to be able to push his pace. Which means he will come forward, likely get cracked a few times and then eventually stopped. Obviously the risk here is that Nate gets the takedowns, but Cub hits hard enough and creates enough of a mess to stay safe. The crowd will be on his side to sway the judges if he is taken down and he will definitely control the striking. Cub is the pick and it would be great to see an all time fan favorite ride into the sunset with a win.
Cub Swanson
Cub Swanson is a legend and has been a legend for a very long time. He is a creative striker with incredible fight IQ and a ton of fun to watch. He is definitely old and definitely slow but he's still tough. You don't get to legend status without being diverse which means Cub can also wrestle and grapple while averaging one takedown per fight. Cub is the better all around fighter in most matchups but age is bitch. He is coming off the fun win over Billy Q where the striking looked great but he did seem to get rocked a handful of times.
Nate Landwehr
Nate Landwehr is a wild man. He will run forward throw crazy and look for a finish at all costs. He is a talented guy with decent power and some skills. He puts himself in harms way for no reason, but we are thankful because thats why he is so fun to watch. His willingness to engage is enough to break people and he is a hard guy to get out of there. He is coming off the KO loss to Morgan Charriere where he moved forward and was tough, but just not the better fighter.
