There's a lot of fights on this card that are tough to pick. Some because both fighters are dog shit. Some because of long layoffs, and some because it's just a close contest. This is one of those. This is a very close fight. Both women are incredibly similar in fight style and this entire thing will come down to who was able to get the takedowns first. If Dione comes in and grinds, she can certainly stay safe on top and not be subbed. If Melissa gets the takedowns going, then she can not only stay safe on top, but be very tricky as well. The problem for Melissa is that her takedowns actually suck. She is the better grappler here and will be live on the ground, but fighting off your back is very different than being in control. Melissa has shown us power in the past but Dione is very tough and if things get weird she will shoot. Dione is the pick, but I do worry she can be screwed on the scorecards like she was in her last fight where she had the takedowns, landed more significant strikes, but the general activity of pitter patter punches from Karine snuck it out.
Dione Barbosa
Diona Barbosa is a solid grappler who will throw tight strikes and look to get it to the ground. She is a Judoka so instead of shooting shots up the middle, she will look to tie up or clinch then work in trips or throws. Her striking isn't great but she is fast and it is enough to setup the clinch. She is coming off the controversial loss to Karine Silva.
Melissa Gatto
Melissa Gatto is a grappler with very good BJJ. Unlike many others, her jiu jitsu is actually solid off her back which helps her against heavy wrestlers, but also gives her a false sense of confidence and just creates situations where she is losing rounds. While she is primarily a grappler, she has technical striking and a bit of power. Her takedowns aren't very good and are certainly not good enough to shoot from distance. She is coming off the KO win over Tamires Vidal
