When i saw Bia as a -450 favorite I was surprised. I get that she's nasty on the ground, but thats kind of where it ends. The striking is horrible and the wrestling is only a touch better. Rendon isn't a world beater but she had good takedown defense and is tough as hell. If she can keep this fight standing for any meaningful amount of time she might have Bia flailing around and looking like another busted prospect. Bia is still very much a BJJ competitor and not full MMA fighter yet. I don't think I have the balls to actually pick Rendon here, but I definitely don't think people should be spending this kind of money an Bia.

Bia Mesquita

Beatriz Mesquita or Bia, depending on where she is listed, is a nasty grappler. Like one of the best female grapplers in the world. Her striking isn't great, or at least she's not comfortable with it and the takedowns need work, but if a fight gets to the ground, its lights out. She is exactly who Mackenzie Dern was supposed to be. A death touch on the mat. She actually doesn't even need the mat and will climb your back against the cage and submit you from there. She is coming off a dominant UFC debut where got the second round submission.

Montserrat Rendon

Montserrat Rendon is a grappler who will stay in your face with a jab and look to work in takedowns. Her striking is stiff and long but she has a tight guard while plotting forward. She doesn't have big clean wrestling takedowns, but does have solid clinch work with trips. She is very tough and so far has defended every takedown attempted on her. She is coming off the prospect busting win over Alice Pereira.
