Edson Barboza vs. Jalin Turner

BARBOZA VS TURNER

What percentage of MMA do you think is mental? Is it an even split? 50% actual fight skills and 50% mental? Is it 80% fight skills? Whatever percentage you allot to mental toughness, subtract that from your confidence in Jalin Turner. Jalin SHOULD win, he's the better fighter, he's younger, he's longer, he has great striking and greta BJJ. But his brain is not right. He's very Jimmy Crute coded right now. Couple of tough losses so he took his ball and went home, just to regret that very emotional decision and come back. At this point in their careers, Jalin should be the better fighter, but if he shows up and isn't 100% prepared, Edson will win. I'm going to pick Jalin because I am ultimately going to pick the better fighter here, but these odds are insane for a guy as emotional as he is.

Edson Barboza

Edson Barbosa is a great striker with amazing movement. He has fought every single person in this division and is a walking highlight reel of KOs and submissions. He is unbelievably fast and insanely technical. Barboza doesn't initiate many takedowns, but he is very good on the ground with some sneaky submissions. He is coming off the decision loss to Drakkar Klose where he defended the takedown attempts and landed more significant strikes.

Jalin Turner

Jalin Turner is a good boxer who comes forward and keeps the fight at range at the exact same time. He is an incredible 6'3 and is one of the few people who uses range well. Even though he is known as a striker, 3 of his last 5 wins are by submission which shows just how well rounded he is. He is coming off the retirement loss to Ignacio Bahamondes when he was submitted and then decided to leave the sport.
