UAE Warriors 65 is a very good card taking place in the UAE this weekend. It features many hot prospects which are already on the UFC's radar, including some very impressive undefeated fighters. This card is on UFC Fight Pass at 11:00 AM ET on Saturday 15th November.
LANY SILVA (7-2) vs. MICHELE OLIVEIRA (5-1) – Vacant Women's Strawweight Championship
This is a striker vs. grappling fight. Lany Silva is a striker with professional kickboxing experience at a high level, and has defeated many undefeated fighters in the LFA. She has two losses to fighters who were able to take her down and hold her down. Michele Oliveira is a BJJ fighter who has professional BJJ experience. I don't think Oliveira has the level of wrestling required to take down Silva consistently. I also don't think she has the striking to put Silva in uncomfortable situations on the feet.
Pick: Lany Silva by decision. Medium confidence.
BRUNO AZEREDO (18-9) vs. BRENTIN MUMFORD (11-9) – 165 LBS
Azeredo is 39 years old but he is fighting as if he is in his prime. He has a few KO's in a row now, won the lightweight title, and now is taking a step down in competition. At this point in his career this is obviously not Mumford's main gig anymore. Mumford is fighting rarely and when he does he comes out aggressive and gets caught as his striking defense is awful.
Pick: Bruno Azeredo by KO/TKO. High confidence.
ABDURAKHMAN ALIMAGOMEDOV (12-1) vs. ANVARBEK DANIYALBEKOV (11-0) – 190 LBS
This is Alimagomedov's second fight in nearly four years. He is a short wrestler but I don't think he offers much on the feet at all. I think he is going to be at a huge size disadvantage here as he is a former Welterweight, and is fighting at 190 lbs at 5'9″. Anvarbek Daniyalbekov has an impressive record and he does look like he could be a great prospect. But I think it will be hard to tell how good he really is until we see him at a major promotion. The best fighter he ever fought was Imam-Shapi Mukhtarov (11-1) and in that fight he showcased good wrestling defense and some good offense too. I would consider him to mostly be a striker but he can wrestle himself so I don't think he will be out of place here. He should keep the fight on the feet where I believe he has a big advantage.
Pick: Anvarbek Daniyalbekov by KO/TKO. Medium confidence.
FURKATBEK YOKUBOV (15-4) vs. RUEL PANALES (6-3) – Flyweight
Yokubov is a former TUF contestant where he was on the show last year. He has fought once since and I think with a big win here we see him in the UFC. He is a wild fighter, coming forward very aggressive and hard looking to land big strikes and take downs. His cardio isn't great though but this is likely due to his hard output. Ruel Panales was on the Road to UFC tournament a couple years ago but he didn't have a strong showing. He has decent striking technique but I think he lacks everywhere else. Yokubov should run through him and book his ticket to the UFC.
Pick: Furkatbek Yokubov by KO/TKO or submission. High confidence.
AHMED FARESS (22-8) vs. WALTER COGLIANDRO (15-8-1) – Featherweight
These guys are big featherweights. It's hard to tell how good either of these guys are but at least Faress has momentum. Faress is a pretty slow striker but he does has decent wrestling and strong top control once he gets a take down.
Pick: Ahmed Faress by decision. Low confidence.
SHARAPUDIN ZIYAUDINOV (5-0) vs. KHALED LAALLAM (7-0) – 192 LBS
Both of these guys are good prospects to watch out for and the think the winner will be one to keep an eye on for the future. However I genuinely wasn't super impressed with Ziyaudinov. He looks like he could be another short wrestler (his height is not listed). I wasn't very impressed with his striking either he is mostly throwing sloppy boxing combos to close the distance against the cage. Khaled Laallam could be a strong prospect to consider. He fought Khamzat Chimaev as an amateur and beat Christian Leroy Duncan as an amateur. He is a wrestler himself but admittedly his fights aren't super fun to watch. On the feet he can be low volume but I think he offers a lot more options than Ziyaudinov does.
Pick: Khaled Laallam by decision. Low-medium confidence.
SHAMIDKHAN MAGOMEDOV (10-1) vs.MARCOS SANTANA (7-1) – Welterweight
Magomedov is getting an obvious lay up here. He is a former LFA champion and with a big win here he should get a shot at the UFC if he has a visa.
Pick: Shamidkhan Magomedov by submission. High confidence.
MEHEMMEDELI OSMANLI (11-0) vs. BAKHTOVAR YUNUSOV (10-0-1) – Bantamweight
This is one of the best fights on the card by far. Yunusov has been very inactive recently and didn't have a great showing in his return but he is still a strong prospect to consider. He is a wrestler with very strong top control and ground and pound. His striking isn't fantastic but he does pressure a lot. He will shoot take downs often but he didn't find a lot of success getting the fight down in his most recent fight. Osmanli is much more well rounded in my opinion. He has a diverse striking skill set where can box and kick, and he can also offensively wrestle well. His biggest weakness is actually his wrestling defense which is what makes this match up so intriguing. He can get defensive submissions and has shown the cardio to finish fights late after going through adversity, but this certainly his toughest test to date.
Pick: Mehemmedeli Osmanli by decision. Low confidence.
SHAKHBAN ALKHASOV (9-2) vs. BASIR SARALIEV (10-1) – Welterweight
This will be interesting as Alkhasov is 6'3″ and Saraliev is 5'8″. I will be honest Alkhasov surprised me as he a submission heavy fighter out of Khabib's camp which isn't super common. His striking is okay but he doesn't respond well to pressure a she has lost by TKO twice in fights it looked like he was giving up in. Saraliev did impress me and I like his style a lot. I am interested to see his size here as I didn't think he looked too small in his fights. He is coming off a decision win in which he won a striking match against Evgeny Morozov, where Saraliev is a wrestler.
Pick: Basir Saraliev by KO/TKO. Low-medium confidence.
YAMATO FUJITA (14-5) vs. REECE MCLAREN (18-9) – Flyweight
This is Reece McLaren's first fight since being released from ONE Championship, and since defeating Jarred Brooks. He is a solid veteran with good wins in ONE. He has good striking but he finds most of his success with wrestling and grappling. Yamato Fujita is a very small fighter even for 125. He is a solid striker who is very fast and has a dangerous guillotine, which he has caught many people in. His take down defense is a big weakness in his game though, even in his wins he is usually getting taken down at least once. I think McLaren can use his size advantage here to use his wrestling against Fujita. Fujita is legit and this would be a big win for McLaren and I think the winner of this fight on either side deserves a shot at the UFC.
Pick: Reece McLaren by decision.
PAVEL ANDRUSCA (6-0) vs. DAERMISI ZHAWUPASI (10-3) – 141 lbs
I was interesting in Pavel as he has great wins and I was impressed. He has solid wrestling but he also has very technical boxing as well. Zhawupasi was on Road to UFC twice but has never been able to make it to the finals. He is a very aggressive wrestler but he doesn't have the cardio to keep up with the pace he tries to set. I really liked Pavel's skill set and I once considered Zhawupasi to be a high level prospect so I am very interested in this fight.
Pick: Pavel Andrusca by KO/TKO. Low confidence.
