Before you head down the path of Deiveson being a former world champion and rattling off all the people he beat, you need to remember, this is not that guy. This version is Deiveson is not the guy who won the title, he's not the guy who beat Garbandt or Chito. This is the guy who went 2 for 8 in takedown attempts against Petr Yan. He's older, slower, and a shell of who he was. With that being said, even his shell is better than most. So in this breakdown we need to determine if Montel Jackson is most or if he is special. I think he is teatering on the edge, i also think he is tremendous, fast, powerful and a good wrestler. I don't think he has a performance that i can point to and say “he beats Figgy the same way he beat xx” but I can point to a handful of scraps where he defended takedowns, got his own and landed clean. I will pick Montel here but a +3.5 on Figgy may not be the worst bet in the world especially with homer judges.

Deiveson Figueriedo

Deiveison Figuerdo is the former flyweight champion of the world who moved up to Bantamweight later in his career. Since moving up to Bantamweight we have seen cardio improvements and a much higher focus on wrestling. He has 11 takedowns in his last 5 fights which is more than his previous 7 fights combined. He is a well rounded guy who is dangerous everywhere. He has power in his hands, well timed takedowns, a BJJ blackbelt and some dog in him. He is coming off the injury loss to Cory Sandhaggen.

Montel Jackson

Montel Jackson is making a name for himself with his power, but he's a good wrestler who added striking late. He's very well rounded and has a resume full of KOs, Decisions and Submissions. His takedown accuracy is 62% with an average of more than 3 per fight. Often times people focus on his power and not his wrestling credentials. At one point in time he was at the Olympic Training facility and had hopes to compete at that level. He is coming off the shutout win over Daniel Marcos.
