Anyone who has watched one of my breakdowns before knows that i like to take notes while watching the fight live. I do this because i trust my raw in the moment reaction more than a tape study reaction 6 months later. My notes for these two fighters from their last fights couldn't be more different. Luan's say “incredible dangerous, constantly working towards a submission” and my notes for Saimon say “sucks”. And while on the surface a one word breakdown may not seem helpful, i promise you it is. Saimon sucks, Luan is the pick. I hate the layoff, but he's fighting a suck, so its fine.
Saimon Oliveira
Saimon Oliveira is a very slick BJJ fighter. He is incredibly flexible and literally dangerous from anywhere on the ground. He always has a wrist in his hands and are working off their opponents hips and is always setting somehting up. His striking lacks a bit, he throws one punch at a time and tends to overreact to anything coming his way. People have success throwing combinations at him because of his reactions. He is coming off the KO loss to Daniel Martinez which is his 3rd in a row.
Luan Lacerda
Luan Lacerda is a slick grappler who can strike. He comes forward with reckless abandon throwing punches and kicks with no real rhym or reason but a ton of power. From there he will work trips or single leg takedowns and then on the ground he is a savage. He is very creative and is always looking for a submission. He is a threat everywhere but definitely a little reckless and can lose positions because of it. He is coming off the loss to Damon Blackshear 2 years ago where he was constantly threatening submissions.
