Contender Series 2025: Week 8 Predictions

Life has really got in the way this week so BetSam is taking the wheel for DWCS Week 8 on the channel. These picks are made with significantly less time studying them as usual due to my busy schedule at the moment, but honestly that could be a good thing as my method of watching every fight I can possibly find has not been working.

VITOR COSTA (8-1) vs. DAMIAN PINAS (7-1) – Middleweight

Short notice fight for both – Costa was supposed to fight Ryan Gandra a few weeks ago, and Pinas was supposed to fight in Week 1 but had to pull out. Pinas is a very powerful striker who absolutely could just smoke Costa, but I like Costa's boxing combinations and ability to pressure his opponents.

Pick: Vitor Costa by KO/TKO

LOUIS JOURDAIN (8-3) vs. MAGNO DIAS (6-1) – Bantamweight

My knowledge of Magno Dias is pretty limited, but Louis Jourdain is quite good. Jourdain is a great boxer with a professional boxing background and should be the much better striker here. Dias will be looking for take downs and Jourdain's grappling isn't great but I think he can defend the take downs and out work Dias on the feet with combinations.

Pick: Louis Jourdain by KO/TKO

CHRISTOPHER ALVIDREZ (6-1) vs. ELIEZER KUBANZA (7-0) – Welterweight

Both of these guys are really good. They are both strikers but I think Kubanza is way more dangerous. Alvidrez is also a karate guy which hasn't been working out for DWCS guys this year.

Pick: Eliezer Kubanza by KO/TKO

KURTIS CAMPBELL (7-0) vs. DEMBA SECK (10-2) – Featherweight

Campbell has great grappling but his striking is terrible. I don't think Seck is going to be able to deal with the grappling of Campbell though and we might see a quick sub here. I will need to see some striking development from him before I can fully believe in him as a prospect.

Pick: Kurtis Campbell by submission.

RASHID VAGABOV (13-2) vs. PAULO DA SILVA (11-1) – Flyweight

da Silva getting a DWCS shot off a robbery over my GOAT is crazy. Vagabov is a pretty solid wrestler and da Silva's take down defense is bad. da Silva fights wildly but I think that is just going to get him taken down by Vagabov.

Pick: Rashid Vagabov by submission.
