Carlos Ulberg is on the longest active win streak of anything at the top of this division and you could argue should've gotten the title shot instead of Alex with a rematch. You could also argue he lost his last fight to Jan. That fight is the only thing giving me hesitation here. Carlos running backwards and trying to win on points might be tricky. He is the better striker overall, but Reyes still has power. I am going to pick the better striker in a striking matchup and hope that we don't need the judges, but if we do, hopefully the somewhat local guy can get a homer call.
Carlos Ulberg
Carlos Ulberg is a world class kickboxer who transitioned to MMA. He is a big guy with incredible footwork and great range management. His striking differential is an impressive 7 to 4 and he has an 85% takedown defense. His only MMA loss was a KO to Kennedy Nuchkwi in a fight that he was absolutely dominating. He is coming off the close decision win over Jan Blachowicz where he had the volume but was running backwards.
Dominick Reyes
Dominick Reyes is a former title challenger who many argue beat Jon Jones. But since that title loss he has had a wild ride. He went from world title fight to a 4 fight skid to a now 3 fight KO win streak. He is one of the few people I have seen pull his career out of a death spiral. He is a powerful striker who uses his length really well. He is coming off his 3rd KO win in a row, most recently in the first round over Nikita Krylov
