I understand Karine being a slight favorite here. She is strong, a solid grappler and she was already on the card. But we just saw that while her offensive takedowns are solid, her takedown defense kinda sucks and Dione Barbosa will test that. The real struggle with breaking down this fight is that neither of these women have good wins and the only time they fought someone decent, they lost. Karine is obviously a fantastic finisher but hasn't had that same success in fights that go longer. Dione is tough and a solid grappler in her own right. Short notice is a concern here but I am actually leaning Dione as a slight dog.

Karine Silva

Karina Silva is a powerful grappler who is constantly working for a submission both from top and bottom. She has 18 wins with 17 stoppages and those are a mixed bag of ground and pound and submissions. She will plot forward with a tight guard on her feet, throw a flurry of punches to rush in and then body clinch or cage work you to the ground. From there is is constantly working for position and then submission. She is coming off the decision loss to Viviane Arujo where her takedown defense just wasn't there.

Dione Barbosa

Diona Barbosa is a solid grappler who will throw tight strikes and look to get it to the ground. She is a Judoka so instead of shooting shots up the middle, she will look to tie up or clinch then work in trips or throws. Her striking isn't great but she is fast and it is enough to setup the clinch. She is coming off the submission win over Diane Belbita.
