We have a short notice matchup here with two fighters who were not on this card or scheduled to be on this card. Meaning this is beyond just a new opponent and both fighters are coming in off the couch. It is important to note that these are both middleweights, but because of the short notice is is at light heavyweight.
I know Cody has a nack for weird situations in fights, but its not his fault he gets fouled. His last fight is a perfect example. As a 7-1 dog he was in a razor thing fight that came down to the 3rd round. He gets in a fire fight and then an unintentional clash of the heads ends it. But even with some of the odd outcomes, the kid is talented. He hits like a truck, he has high level wrestling and now, as we saw in his last fight, he has self control too. I think Cody is literally better than Eric in ever single aspect of MMA and I think he runs through him. Cody is the pick and whenever we get odds, i likely will jump on them.
Cody Brundage
Cody Brundage is a heavy handed kill or be killed wrestler. He has no problem coming forward, throwing heavy and then working in a takedown. He does have a pretty high level wrestling background that he brings into the cage. He averages almost 3 takedowns per fight but even dominant wrestling and big power can't always keep him safe. for the first 5 minutes he is one of the most dangerous fighters in the division. He is coming off the no contest with Mansur Abdul Malik where he was in a close 1-1 fight heading into the 3rd round where he was head butt in an exchange.
Eric McConico
Eric McConico is a solid grappler who is comfortable striking, but ultimately looking to close the distance and grind fights to the ground. Even though he wants fights on the ground, he doesn't always force them there. Many times he will wait to catch a kick or force a trip with out rushing and shooting. When fights do get to the ground Eric does a nice job passing through positions and finding control before working to submissions. He is coming off the finish loss to Nursulton Ruziboev in his short notice UFC debut.
