Steve Erceg vs. Ode Osbourne

ERCEG VS OSBOURNE

I very much feel that Erceg is overrated. I was one of the few people who watched the Pantoja fight and thought it was a very clear loss. Lots of people felt that it was a close fight and Steve Erceg was the uncrowned champion, but I think his last couple of fights have shown the world that he might not be a top 5 guy. He is still, by all credentials, an Australian national wrestling champion and while Australian wrestling certainly isn't as good as Arkansas' wrestling it should be good enough here. Let's hope Steve uses all of his tools and doesn't just try to strike with one of the better strikers in the division. Erceg is going to be the pick, but we likely need him to wrestle.

Steve Erceg

People like to call Steve Erceg a striker, but the reality is that he is an accomplished wrestler who completed at a high level. I personally categorize him as a grappler and a slick grappler at that. His striking is quickly improving and he does have nice calves kicks with solid volume. He has a very wide stance with limited head movement. He moves very fluidly and seizes opportunities on the ground. He is coming off his 3rd loss in a row, this time a decision to Brandon Moreno where he was out struck and attempted no takedowns.

Ode Osbourne

Ode Osbourne is a is a southpaw striker who uses range well to keep people at the end of his punches. He has a ton of power and great finishing ability especially at 125lbs. He has 6 wins in the UFC with takedowns in 3 of them and while he may squeak in the occasional offensive takedown, his takedown defense is a problem and is the reason for his last 3 losses. He is coming off the KO win over Luis Gurule just a few months ago.
