Price Point Picks: UFC 317

Best DraftKings Plays UFC 317

What a fun PPV we have for international fight week, UFC 317 for the lightweight belt and we have the flyweight belt on the line also. Headlined by Ilia Topuria making his lightweight debut against Charles Oliveira, it is a good card top to bottom and should make for some interesting DFS builds. We not only have the flyweight championship on the line, the #1 contender is fighting Van on short notice to see who will be up next.

For anyone who hasn’t read this article before, this series will be released every week on Wednesday and will cover the slate by isolating the fighters that I like within the various salary groups. Please be aware that these plays are subject to change as the week goes on. $9,000+ PRICE POINT

ILIA TOPURIA

He is just so damn talented, hits like a truck, and has not had to showcase his wrestling and BJJ yet in the UFC. Charles is super tough, has the most performance bonuses ever, and is the former lightweight champ so it should be the toughest fight Ilia has had. However, I think he will avoid the kicks from Charles and close the distance and drop Da Bronxs en route to becomin the new lightweight champion in the world.

ALEXANDRE PANTOJA

Pantoja is just a dog, relentless pressure and mixes in wrestling to go with his striking. KKF will try to keep this on the feet and look for a finish that way, but we have seen Pantoja beat every single top 10 guy in this division seemingly, and beat KKF before they made their official UFC debuts in one of the ultimate fighter seasons.

$8,000 – $8,900 PRICE POINT

TERRENCE MCKINNEY

McKinney is always a fun fighter to roster because you are either getting the quick first round finish and a ton of fantasy points, or he dies and gets KO’d and busts. I think we see him drag Borshchev to the ground and find a submission here, as he sports a takedown per round and Borshchev only has a 43% takedown defense.

JOSHUA VAN

This is the toughest fight I think to try and pick a side on. Royval is awesome and the #1 contender for a reason, he is good everywhere and has beaten basically everyone except Pantoja in this division. He has had a few bad concussions in training though, and Van is probably the best striker in this division. He is young, super active, averages over 8 significant strikes per minute and this will be his 6th fight in the last 12 months. If he can keep the fight standing I think he can piece up Royval on the feet.

Under $8,000 PRICE POINT

HYDER AMIL

This is a fun matchup, with Hyder being the dog here against Delgado. Amil has good output on the feet, and will need to avoid the takedowns of Delgado, but Amil is a dog who will fight for your money.

JACK HERMANSSON

He just needs to survive what seems like 1 round from Robocop before he gasses out completely. They are fairly evenly matched with metrics, Jack has a 2 inch reach advantage, both will mix in wrestling but after watching Gregory gas and quit a few times, I will take the dog.
