I don't know what these 2 years away have been like for Mickey or if he has evolved, but I have always been a Mickey supporter. He has the raw talent, he has the wrestling, but he just can't seem to put it all together. Bassil Hafez showed us what he can do on short notice against a top guy in the division and I imagine this is more of the same. Bassil should win here and he is the pick.
Mickey Gall
Mickey is a pretty good grappler with submissions from both top and off his back. He feels very raw but he has been around a lot longer than it seems. He was brought into the UFC in 2016 for his second ever pro fight. He beat CM punk, then beat Sage Northcut and all of the sudden he was a prospect. The problem though is that instead of a normal path to the UFC where he learned onthe regional scene, he was learning in the biggest promotion on the planet and didn't evolve as he should have. He is a tough wrestler with decent striking and is making his UFC return after 2 years away.
Bassil Hafez
Bassil Hafel is a heavy handed grappler. His striking is loose and very powerful and even though you will see the check hook KO highlight, he is not a striker, he is a very tough grappler who will shoot blast doubles and look to maintain position while blasting elbows. He is a high paced guy both on the feet and on the ground but his cardio can fade a bit later in fights. He is coming off the short notice loss to Jack Della Madallena where he had 3 takedowns but was out struck.
