This fight was supposed to happen back in August, but Yousri couldn't get his Visa in time.
Yoursi is a great addition to the UFC roster but because he does lack certain MMA skills, he needs primary striker matchups. Obviously as he wins and evolves he will have to fight the better guys in the division, but I personally would dip his toes into the water with people who will stand. That is not what they have done here. This is a problematic matchup. He should tower over the already small Bekoev and likely be the more technical striker, but Bekoev is far more than only a striker he is a phenomenal wrestler as well who should be able to get to the long as legs of Yoursi. Azamat Bekoev is the pick, but with this much power flying in both directions, it's hard to be 100% sure of anything.
Azamat Bekoev
Azamat Bekoev is a very well rounded guy who has been seperating heads from bodies in the UFC so far. He has powerful strikes, solid takedown defense, solid takedowns and solid BJJ. He's good pretty much everywhere. His technique isn't the cleanest and he isn't particularly fast, but he is very powerful and uses that power well. His takedowns are heavy and many of them are slams and his strikes are big right hands. He's a pretty small guy for this weight class, but he closes distance well with forward pressure and cardio. He is coming off the KO win over Ryan Loder.
Yoursi Belgaroui
Yousri Belgaroui is a former kickboxer who much like his Alex Peira made the jump to MMA. Also like Alex Pereira he is tremendous for this weight class and trains at Glover's gym in Connecticut. He is a stoic 6'5 with fantastic kicks that fully utilize his power and range. When he isn't worried about takedowns, he lets his hands fly, but if you faint on him, he can freeze up. Overall he is a dangerous guy but likely needs the right matchups to succeed.
