This should be a fun fight between two high level strikers and while the odds have all but counted Melsik out, he could have some success here. Don't get me wrong, Jean is the pick and a confident one at that, but Melsik isn't just some random sloppy MMA striker. He is a real striker with a long kickboxing history. I think this line is somewhat inflated because of Jean's recent success and Melsik's layoff but the reality is this will be a fun fight and likely a decision. Not sure i will touch the Silva moneyline here but an over 2.5 may be the move depending on those odds
Jean Silva
Jean Silva is a powerful striker who is loose and creative. The creativity is fun to watch but does get him into weird positions at times. He is interesting to watch because he will go from a tight guard to loose hands down but he does alternate between the two often enough to get people guessing. He lowers his level to land body shots and then comes up top with power. His takedown defense is solid and his striking is killer. He is coming off his 3rd KO win in a row, this time a short notice stoppage over Drew Dober.
Melsik Baghdasaryan
Melsik Baghdasaryan is a very aggressive striker who is always moving forward. He has diverse striking and does a great job mixing things up. He has a long professional kickboxing background before MMA and you can see the technique shine in the Octagon, he will go to the body, he will use kicks and puts it all together really well. His forward pressure, power and diversity is very fun to watch but he does have grappling holes. He is coming off the decision win to Tucker Lutz where his striking looked good and he was tough, but he reminded us he has zero takedown defense.
