After the week break, the UFC returns with ranked flyweights headline a fight night at the Apex. Looks to be a fun card on paper, where I see some betting value throughout. These are my personal best bets!
BEST BET #1 | Guram Kutateladze H2H $1.30
Guram and Jamie are two well-rounded fighters that meet in what could be a barnburner. Guram employs brutal techniques in his kickboxing arsenal, I can see his kicks to the body being especially prominent in this bout.
It is clear the UFC thinks highly of Kutateladze, as he faced Gamrot and Ismagulov in his first two fights with the promotion. Despite split results on two decisions, he has looked phenomenal against high level competition, and now draws a lower ranked fighter in Mullarkey.
Jamie is known for his durability and will always bring the fight, but I cannot see him winning this matchup. Guram has too many tools, and looks like he is a level above.
BEST BET #2 | Maxim Grishin H2H @$1.62
Initially, I saw this bout as a coin toss. Lins has proven heavyweight power that helped him become a PFL millionaire, and statistically it seems like he has a wrestling advantage. However, his impressive 1.79 takedown per 15 minute average is skewed by his performance against Marcin Prachnio where Lins secured 4 takedowns to win a decision.
Lins likely has the power advantage, especially after his first minute KO against veteran OSP. But Grishin is the far more accurate and technical striker. I really like Grishin’s style, and I feel like it is tailored to win this bout in the later rounds or by a decision.
VALUE PICK #2 | Don’Tale Mayes H2H @$1.78
I tend to fade the lower level heavyweight fights, but the more I look into this bout, the more I lean towards the younger fighter in Don’Tale Mayes. At 31, he will be 13 years younger than the former champion Andrei Arlovski, who is riding a 4-1 record in his last 5. His last 10 victories have come by way of decision, and his last 2 have been split victories against Jared Vanderaa and Jake Collier.
Mayes can offer different looks by shooting for the takedown, and at this stage of their careers he holds the speed and power advantage.
