Very intrigued by this bantamweight main event between Marlon “Chito” Vera and Cory Sandhagen. This fight night in San Antonio has plenty of talent throughout the card that should make for a very entertaining event, these are my predictions!
BEST BET #1 | CJ Vergara H2H @$1.35
Daniel Da Silva could be one of the most exciting 0-3 UFC fighters to watch, but he is far too hittable for my liking. He absorbs 10.26 significant strikes per minute which is just not sustainable against the pinnacle of the sport. CJ Vergara is another wild flyweight, but he is far more calculated and defensively aware than his opponent in this matchup. I can see Vergara keeping this fight vertical and landing his crisp boxing combinations until a finishing sequence presents itself.
BEST BET #2 | Tucker Lutz H2H @$1.40
Daniel Pineda has an incredible finishing record, with 27 wins and 27 finishes. He is extremely dangerous particularly on the ground, however he only has a 22% takedown accuracy throughout his UFC career.
Despite losing a decision in his sophomore UFC fight, Tucker showed some great submission defense against the elite grappler Pat Sabatini. I am adamant that he can keep this fight standing where he has an advantage, and can land some powerful strikes to win this bout by a KO or Decision.
Value Pick #1 | Yana Santos H2H @$2.85
I can totally understand why the majority of pundits will be backing the former champion Holly Holm to win this co-main event bout, but I cannot believe the value we have in Yana Santos as the underdog. Yana has a similar stature to Holm and although Holly will have the advantage on the feet, at 41 years old I can see the advantage not being as significant as the oddsmakers suggest.
Holly has an elite takedown defense of 78%, but I believe Yana can still threaten the level change even just to keep Holly guessing on the feet. Yana is a good striker in her own right, and although she may not be on the same level as Holly, I feel like Yana has the potential to make this fight ugly and cash in as a massive underdog.
Overs or Unders
We could not quite match our scintillating previous effort at UFC 286, but still finished with a 9-5 record on our Over or Unders table. Here’s my tips for this week's card!
