The UFC returns to Charlotte for a fight night headlined by two ranked heavyweights in Jairzinho Rozenstruik and the emerging Jailton Almeida. I am very disappointed with our best bets on UFC 288, and I am looking to bounce back with a safer approach.
BEST BET #1 | Carlos Ulberg H2H @$1.32
Carlos Ulberg is a slick striker from the City Kickboxing camp in New Zealand. This matchup should eventuate as a striking affair as he faces the aggressive Ihor Potieria. Ihor is very powerful and is going to try to march down Carlos, but I have the Kiwi picking him apart with his speed and technical ability in the striking.
BEST BET #2 | Natan Levy H2H @$1.33
My most confident pick of the weekend is the grappling heavy Natan Levy to outclass Pete Rodriguez. Pete is a gunslinger that likes to trade early and often. He has never been past the first round, so I have questions about his cardio that I believe will be answered in this matchup. Pete definitely has a puncher's chance in the early moments, but once Natan closes the distance I do see him taking the fight to the ground, where Natan should dominate for however long this fight lasts.
I see Natan controlling Pete for long periods on the ground, and setting up a submission victory.
BEST BET #3 | Karl Williams H2H @$1.22
Sherman has plenty of experience and likes to trade punches on the feet, but Karl is a dynamic heavyweight that has had recent success with his wrestling acumen. I can see him taking the fight down to the ground with ease, and there not being too much resistance once Karl obtains the top position.
VALUE PICK #1 | Daniel Rodriguez H2H @$3.30
This will not be a popular opinion, but I give Daniel Rodriguez a much better chance to derail the hype of Ian Machado Garry than the odds suggest. D Rod is a game opponent with plenty of experience, he has slick striking and can implement grappling attacks when required.
Garry wants to be remembered as one of the best strikers in UFC history, and although I respect the high expectations he has put upon himself, he might have bitten off more than he can chew in this matchup against a veteran in D Rod.
I can see why Garry is the favorite, however the odds we are getting with Rodgriguez are too good to pass up in my opinion. I think D Rod can wear on him, and be competitive in the striking exchanges.
Overs or Unders
7-4 is another great result following our perfect week on our total rounds table. Hoping to keep the hot streak alive!
Thanks for tuning in once again, I hope you all enjoy the fights this weekend! If you are having a bet this weekend make sure you do your own research and gamble responsibly.
