FanDuel definitely threw a wrench in most everyone’s plans last week when they canceled NFL and MMA contests. Truthfully it was a blessing in disguise for me however, as I was on the wrong side of a few fights that would have absolutely crushed my single entry...

After a long holiday I am back for my first best bets article of the year, featuring UFC 283! I hope we all had a safe holiday season, and are ready to jump back in for more UFC action, where I believe there is money to be made.Â
BEST BET #1 | Cody Stamann H2H @$1.28
Cody Stamann is a UFC veteran that will be welcoming newcomer Luan Lacerda to the promotion. Lacerda is a wild Brazilian Jiu Jitsu ace that certainly poses threats to Stamann on the ground, however, I believe he will have difficulty with Stamann’s wrestling pedigree. Cody can leverage his wrestling ability to keep this fight standing, where I am adamant that his boxing and distance management will allow the American to outpace the Brazilian, and inflict more damage throughout the three round contest.
BEST BET #2 | Jessica Andrade H2H @$1.18
Another fighter I have great confidence in is the former strawweight champion Jessica Andrade. She is a powerful athlete that is elite at closing the distance to mix in her boxing combinations, and initiate clinch sequences that can lead to a takedown. I feel that Jessica has almost all the advantages in this fight, and can negate Lauren Murphy’s renowned durability and toughness by integrating body shots into her punching combinations.
If we see this fight progress into round 3, I do suspect Lauren Murphy’s cardio will enable a high level of output and we may see Lauren have some success. However, Jessica will be the aggressor for the majority of the fight, and should pile up far more damage on both the feet and on the ground.
BEST BET #3 | Gilbert Burns H2H @$1.24
It’s apparent that for this card I am heavily favoring damage because it is one of the most critical elements towards winning a fight in the judges eyes. Another bout where we are receiving short odds is a welterweight contest between former title challenger Gilbert Burns, as he takes on the well-rounded veteran Neil Magny.
Gilbert is able to explode on the feet because he is confident in his world class BJJ on the ground. At welterweight he has enjoyed a wealth of success with this deadly combination, and I believe he will make a statement in his home of Brazil.
Neil Magny is a man whom I deeply respect due to his activity and demeanor. He has a lot of tools at his disposal, with a diverse range of striking attacks and improved grappling. His primary weapon at times is his cardio and fight IQ, but he is facing off against an elite caliber fighter who shares a well-rounded approach, however Gilbert’s style is a lot more threatening. I like Gilbert’s power on the feet, and he is far more adept at finding finishes on the ground. Wherever this bout takes place, I see an advantage for the Brazilian.Â
Overs or Unders
With 17 Brazilians fighting in front of their home crowd, and 6 debutants who all possess a high finishing rate, I would imagine we will have an increased amount of stoppages on this card. These are my predictions for the total rounds of each bout.
Thanks for tuning in once again, I hope you all enjoy the fights this weekend! If you are having a bet this weekend make sure you do your own research and gamble responsibly.
